[ NEWS ] Gates Foundation Works with Ripple to Send Money Across Nations

The cryptocurrency mining market has experienced important growth in the last years. However, mining activities are becoming more difficult to perform and expensive. In order to improve profitability, Samsung launched a new 7nm Low Power Plus (7LPP) process node. According to the official press release, the new chip could reduce energy consumption. Samsung Releases New 7nm Chip Samsung Foundry has launched a new mining chip known as 7LPP and that will help miners increase their profitability. As the mining market grows, the mining difficulty also increases. This is why Bitcoin’s current prices are leaving miners with very tight profits or no profits at all. In order to improve their profitability miners can reduce electricity bills or fire employees. However, improving their hardware equipment can also increase efficiency. Samsung’s new chips are based on extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography technology. This allows the new devices to be much more area and energy efficient. Charlie Bae, executive VP of foundry sales and marketing team at Samsung Electronic commented about it: “With the introduction of its EUV process node, Samsung has led a quiet revolution in the semiconductor industry. This fundamental shift in how wafers are manufactured gives our customers the opportunity to significantly improve their products’ time to market with superior throughput, reduced layers, and better yields.” As per the company, the 7LPP will also improve other fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, Internet of Things (IoT) and more. Although Samsung did not provide information about who will use these chips, it hinted that they will be used for high-performance computing (HPC) applications. Samsung says that the 7LPP technology reduces the process complexity with fewer layers and better yields. Moreover, it delivers a 40% increase in area efficiency and 20% higher performance. In addition to it, the new chips can also reduce up to 50% the power consumption. There are different companies in the market developing chips for crypto miners. For example, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) is one of the most important firms in the industry. Back in January 2018, we informed at UseTheBitcoin that Samsung was going to start producing crypto mining hardware.
